We exist to empower members of the Forestry Community in the US South to make more informed business decisions about the management and valuation of their forests and timber resources.

We serve our clients by collecting, organizing, summarizing and reporting accurate timber and timberland market data and by providing analysis on current and historic trends and events.

Frank W. Norris initiated TimberMart-South in 1976 as a price reporting service to benefit both private landowners and industry professionals.

Nineteen years later in 1995, The Frank W. Norris Foundation was established as an independent, non-profit organization devoted to the continuation of publishing TimberMart-South, an unbiased timber price reporting service. The board driven Foundation acquired all rights and assets of TimberMart-South and moved to the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources to compile, publish and distribute TimberMart-South’s products.

Mr. Thomas G Harris, a professor at Warnell, was appointed Publisher of TimberMart-South and grew the publication until his retirement in 2019. Mr. Jonathan Smith, long-time employee of The Frank W. Norris Foundation, was then appointed Executive Director and currently runs operations from offices located at University of Georgia’s Whitehall Forest.

TimberMart-South remains a trusted source of available and reliable information used to empower members of the forestry community to make more informed business decisions about the management and valuation of their forests and timber resources.
