TimberMart-South (TMS) is a trusted source of current and long-term trend data for stumpage and delivered wood prices and other fundamental forestry business information for the Southeastern USA. TMS publishes quarterly and annual reports used by public and private companies, consultants, landowners, and others to assess market prices in 11 states in the US South.
We have been reporting market timber prices since 1976, and publishing quarterly news journals since 1996.
Our coverage area is: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
TimberMart-South is organized under the Frank W. Norris Foundation, a non-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Frank W. Norris initiated TimberMart-South in 1976 as a price reporting service to benefit both private landowners and industry professionals.
Nineteen years later in 1995, The Frank W. Norris Foundation was established as an independent, non-profit organization devoted to the continuation of publishing TimberMart-South, an unbiased timber price reporting service. The board driven Foundation acquired all rights and assets of TimberMart-South and moved to the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources to compile, publish and distribute TimberMart-South’s products.
Mr. Thomas G Harris, a professor at Warnell, was appointed Publisher of TimberMart-South and grew the publication until his retirement in 2019. Mr. Jonathan Smith, long-time employee of The Frank W. Norris Foundation, was then appointed Executive Director and currently runs operations from offices located at University of Georgia’s Whitehall Forest.
